Product overview
Azobisisobutyronitrile, commonly abbreviated as AIBN, is an organic compound with the formula [(CH3)2C(CN)]2N2. This white powder is soluble in organic solvents and is widely used as a radical initiator in polymer chemistry. AIBN decomposes at temperatures above 60°C, releasing nitrogen gas and generating two 2-cyanoprop-2-yl radicals that initiate polymerization reactions.
